Roads and Bridges

Overview: As one of the world’s least developed countries, Afghanistan’s lack of infrastructure is a major hindrance to its future economic growth. This couldn’t be more true than in our incredibly remote project areas, where many villages remain isolated from the rest of the country from lack of roads and access routes. To address this, we partner with roadless villages to construct simple dirt access roads using village labor and simple hand tools at a price many times cheaper than conventional methods. We also build carefully-placed suspension bridges where they would significantly alleviate access issues and open up doors of economic opportunity.
